Disaster Supply and Go Kits
Your Disaster Supply Kit should be able to sustain you for at least three (3) days but the Division of Emergency Operations strongly recommends seven (7) days.
Your Disaster Supply Kit should include the following:
- One gallon of water per person per day
- Ready to eat canned meat, fruit and vegetables, canned/boxed juices, milk and soup, food for infants and adults with special diets, and high calorie emergency snacks
- Photocopies of license, insurance polices, birth certificates, passport, credit cards, etc in a waterproof bag or portable container
- Manual can opener
- First aid supplies and manual
- Special needs items such as eye glasses and medication
- A change of clothing for each person
- Sleeping bags or blankets
- Battery powered radio and/or television with extra batteries
- Flashlight with extra batteries

- Toys, books, puzzles, and games
- Extra house keys and car keys
- List of contact names and phone numbers
- Food, water, and supplies for pets
- Small tool kit
- Cash
- Personal care and hygiene items
- Whistle
- Prescription and Non-prescription Medications
- Bleach and disinfectant
- Plastic sheeting and duct tape
* For residents with special needs (especially those who use power dependant equipment) must take responsibility to make appropriate arrangements such as portable generator, battery backup and a contingency plan, including identifying places to go for shelter or care in extreme emergencies
